Content Install Path for Daz Studio 4 and the Daz Install Manager

It's necessary to install content to the correct path for use in DAZ Studio 4+.  This is especially true for Genesis add-ons.  By default, DAZ Studio 4+ selects the following paths. If you didn't choose a different path when you installed DAZ Studio 4+, then these paths below are probably the correct paths to use:

DS4 Default Content Install Path, Windows Vista and Windows 7
C:\Users\[Your User Account]\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library

DS4 Default Content Install Path, Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Account]\My Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library

DS4 Default Content Install Path, Mac
Users\[Your User Account]\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library

If you just recently started using the DAZ Install Manager (DIM), you may want to check the content installation path settings.

The default installation path the DAZ Install Manager installs to is:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library
MAC: Users/Shared/My DAZ 3D Library

Please follow these steps to determine where the DAZ Install Manager is installing content to:
1) Open DIM and log in.
2) Click on the gear icon in the top right corner.
3) Click on the Installation tab and you will see "Label" and "Path" and will see the path in which DIM is installing to.

You may need to add this new directory to the DAZ Studio Content Directory Manager.

WINDOWS
Please follow these steps:
1) Open DAZ Studio
2) Click on the Edit menu located at the top left.
3) Click Preferences...
4) Click on Content Library (top right)
5) Click the bottom button "Content Directory Manager"
6) Click the arrow next to DAZ Studio Formats to open it.

If the path that DIM is installing content to is not present, you will need to add it.

You can do this by selecting DAZ Studio Formats. You'll know it's selected because there will be an orange outline around it. Then click the "Add" button on the left under directory. Browse to the Installation path from DIM (C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library) and click Select Folder.

Now you should see two paths:
1) Your original installation path before you installed using DIM (C:\Users\username\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library)
2) The new DIM install path (C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library).
REPEAT THE STEP FOR POSER FORMATS.

Click Accept in the Content Directory Manager and restart DAZ Studio.

3) Click Preferences... (if Preferences is not present use shortcut: Command ,)
4) Click on Content Library (top right)
5) Click the bottom button "Content Directory Manager"
6) Click the arrow next to DAZ Studio Formats to open it.

If the path that DIM is installing content to is not present, you will need to add it.

REPEAT THE STEP FOR POSER FORMATS.
Click Accept in the Content Directory Manager and restart DAZ Studio.

Which Tab? Smart Content or Content Library?

Keep in mind that most content available in the store does not use metadata and will therefore only appear in the Content Library Tab.   Only new products, including Genesis add-ons, and a few updated old products, will appear in the Smart Content Tab.

If there is known metadata for a product, and it is not showing up in the Smart Content pane, please see the article on Troubleshooting the Smart Content pane.

View the Read Me
It's very important and very helpful to you to view the readme.  Although simple, the ReadMe gives you the path where you can find the content in the Content Library tab (DS) or your Poser library.
You can look up Read Me's in the doc center here: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/start

The best way to use this is to get the SKU number from the product page, just above the description, then click on the number range in this index and look up the product by name.

We are in the process of updating all of the Read Me's so if you happen to come across one that you need that is not yet completed, please feel free to send a request ticket to tech support and we will push it through quickly.

You can also find Read Me's installed with the products in the ReadMe's folder of your content directory.
