If you upgraded to a current version of Daz Studio, you may receive the error message below when launching the new version.
To correct this error, the instructions below explain how to uninstall and reinstall PostgreSQL CMS from Daz Install Manager (DIM). In Daz Central, the same process is followed. Users just need to uninstall and reinstall Daz Studio (PostgreSQL CMS is automatically included when Daz Studio is installed).
Step 1: Close Daz Studio.
Step 2: Launch DIM. Some user(s) may not have DIM downloaded. DIM can be downloaded HERE. Alternatively, Daz Central may be used.
Step 3: If using DIM, in the “Installed” pane, PostgreSQL CMS is most likely already installed. Select the button to “Uninstall.” If using Daz Central, uninstall Daz Studio.
Step 4: Select the “Ready to Download” pane, and reinstall PostgreSQL CMS. Close Daz Install Manager (DIM).
Step 5: Launch Daz Studio. If this has resolved the issue, you should be able to login as normal. If this HAS NOT corrected the issue, continue to Step 6.
How to change the port that Daz Studio is assigned to:
Step 6: Within Daz Studio, select “Edit” from the top menu toolbar and select “Preferences” from the dropdown menu.
Step 7: Select the “CMS Settings” tab. The boxes next to “Port” will change when selected. Once you have selected the port to assigned Daz Studio to, select “Accept.”
Step 8: Close Daz Studio, and then relaunch it.
If uninstalling and reinstalling the PostgreSQL CMS does not work, continue with the steps below:
PC:
To uninstall Daz Studio and PostgreSQL (if using Daz Install Manager) or just Daz Studio (if using Daz Central.): Go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\cms and rename or remove the ContentCluster folder and the cmscfg.json file located there.
If you can not see your AppData folder, type %appdata% in the Start menu and Windows will open the hidden folder.
Once you have done that, reinstall first Daz Studio and then the PostgreSQL CMS (if using Daz Central, only install Daz Studio as this also includes PostgreSQL CMS.) Then open Daz Studio and re-import metadata, with the box checked that userdata overwrites product data.
To do this, right click on the Content Library pane, choose Content DB Maintenance, tick Re-Import Metadata, click Accept. Tick User Data and All Products and click Accept.
In the meantime, you can exit out of the sign in screen in Daz Studio > go to the Content Library pane > go to DAZ Studio Formats > My DAZ 3D Library, and access your content from here.
MAC:
To uninstall Daz Studio and PostgreSQL: Go to Library\Application Support\Daz 3D\CMS and rename or remove the ContentCluster folder and the cmscfg.json file located there.
If you can not see your Application Support folder, please go to Go (found at the top of your Mac) > Go To Folder > Copy and paste exactly what I put in between the parentheses (~/Library) > then go to the Application Support folder.
Once you have done that, reinstall first Daz Studio and then the PostgreSQL CMS. Then open Daz Studio and re-import metadata, with the box checked that userdata overwrites product data.
To do this, right click on the Content Library pane, choose Content DB Maintenance, tick Re-Import Metadata, click Accept. Tick User Data and All Products and click Accept.
Daz 3D is NOT responsible for any personal files/software that has been deleted and/or damaged from your device in error. This also includes any technical issues that you may experience if required/needed folder(s) are removed from the AppData folder.
**Additional Details:
Normally the firewall and antivirus are set to allow Daz Studio; however, if Daz Studio is NOT allowed, this could be causing this error message.
If none of the above steps have resolved this issue, submit a Technical Support Ticket. The Daz Studio “Log File” will need to be provided within the ticket. To locate the “Log File” within Daz Studio, select “Help” within the top toolbar. From the drop down menu, select, “Troubleshooting” and then select, “View Log File.” The entire contents of the notepad will need to be copied and pasted within the support ticket. Below provides the final result of these steps:
