Steps 1-5 are for a manual export process. For an auto-export process, start with step 6.
In Daz Studio:
Step 1: Open your character in Daz Studio.
Step 2: Select the “Scene” tab in the upper right hand corner and highlight the entire character package to be converted to Maya.
Step 3: From the top menu toolbar select “File” and then “Export” from the drop down menu. A pop up window will appear with the title “Export File.”
Step 4: Select the file you wish to have the image save to. From the “Save as Type” select “Autodesk FBX (*.fbx) and select save. A pop up window will appear with the title “FBX Export File.”
Step 5: Select “Accept.”
Step 6: Within the top menu toolbar, select “Scripts,” “Bridges”, and then “Daz to Maya.”
In Maya:
Step 7: Open Maya and from the top menu toolbar select “Windows,” “Settings/Preferences,” and then “Plug in Manager.” A pop up window will appear with the title “Plug in Manager.”
Step 8: Under DazToMaya.py, select the boxes next to “Loaded” and “Auto Load.” By selecting the “Refresh” button, this will update the top menu toolbar to include “Daz3D”.
Step 9: From the top menu toolbar, select “Daz3D” and then “DazToMaya.” A pop up window will appear with the title “DazToMaya v1.6.”
Step 10: Select “Auto-Import.” A pop up window will appear with the title “Warning: Screen… ?”
Step 11: Select “Don’t Save” and then your image from Daz Studio will now appear within Maya.
