How do I export a picture of my DAZ Studio scene

The most familiar way in exporting your scene is by the Autodesk FBX file format (*.fbx).  Below we provide steps on how to render and save the final scene/animation. We also provide steps on how to export with the FBX file format.

In addition to exporting, Daz 3D offers Bridges for the more popular 3D software. A Bridge is a cross-platform port that converts 3D Assets — in this case, amazing Daz content — and brings it to another software, complete with rigging, textures, and other Studio modifications. And can be more precise than using FBX. To learn more about Daz 3D Bridges, refer to the help center section, “Other 3D Software.”

Rendering:
Rendering provides a final output. This means that once the image/animation has been rendered within Daz Studio, no other modifications can be performed within another application to that specific image or animation.

Step 1: Open your character in Daz Studio.

Step 2: On the keyboard select the following hotkeys to start the render process: Cmd - (For Mac users) and Ctrl-R (For PC users). You can also select the “Camera” icon located in the upper right hand corner.

Step 3: Type in the “Name” you want your image to be saved under. Select the destination the image should be saved to and then select “Save” Now the image can be used within other applications.

For more information regarding the rendering process, refer to the article; “Tips for increasing rendering speed.”

If you get solid black renders (which probably means your graphics card, or at least its current driver, doesn't offer adequate OpenGL support) drag the slider at the top all the way to the right to perform a slower, but better quality, software render.

Export as a FBX file format:
By exporting the file, this will allow you to make edits to that scene or animation within the 3rd party application.

Step 1: Select the “Scene” tab in the upper right hand corner and highlight the entire character package to be exported.

Step 2:
Select “File” from the top menu toolbar and then select “Export” from the drop down menu.  A pop up box will appear with the title “Export File.”

Step 3:  In this window select the directory where the exported file will be stored and type in the preferred “File Name.” The “Save as type:” will be auto filled with “Autodesk FBX (*.fbx) as the save type. Select “Save.” A pop up window will appear with the title, “FBX Export Options.”

Step 4:  Within this window, you can select/change what exactly is exported and how. For example, lights, cameras, and options with merging different textures. Once you have selected your preferred export options, select “Accept.” Now the selected object should be exported in the directory you chose earlier.

**Additional Details:
The file format can be changed to different save types depending on what you are attempting to export. For example, “Wavefront Object (*.obj)" is normally used when exporting a character/environment that also includes animation.
