As a custom build website, we move tons of data to and from our clients. Even with the support of a content delivery network, there are times when user(s) do not achieve the speed they are expecting with an upload or a download.
There are several factors that affect download speeds. For example; speed of the website's servers, speed of the user(s) ISP server, and speed of hubs in between the site and the user(s) computer. Daz 3D has no direct control over hubs. Following the below steps will assist if you are experiencing slow downloads from Daz 3D's website and NOT from other websites.
Step 1: Confirm if other user(s) of the Daz 3D website are also experiencing slow download speeds. This can be verified by visiting our Daz 3D Forums page.
If most users are NOT experiencing slow download speeds while you are, the issue is most likely with internet hubs between our website and your computer. Running a traceroute on your PC will confirm if this is the case.
Step 2: Select the “Search” icon located in the bottom left hand corner of your desktop. Type in CMD and select enter. A pop up box will appear with the title, “command Prompt.”
Step 3: Within the “Command Prompt” window, type in the following: tracert www.daz3d.com. Select enter. Several entries will appear and will identify a hub that the data is passing through.
Step 4: At the end of the tracert (trace route), you should see the following: “Trace Complete.” The “Command Prompt” tool will now show how many hubs your connection is passing through and show how fast or how slow data is traveling.
**Additional Details:
By using this tool, you can better gauge connectivity to our website. It is possible for a website to have very reliable servers and connectivity and yet still have user(s) who experience slow download speeds. The speed at which data passes through hubs can greatly affect different user(s) in some locations or with some ISPs. For this reason most user(s) will experience very good connectivity to Daz 3D's website, but others may experience slow or poor download speeds.
